TVA River Forecast Center

On Tuesday May 3, 2016, members of the Tellico Village Computer Users Club participated in a tour of the TVA River Forecast Center. It's amazing how the TVA monitors and manages to control flooding in the Tennessee River Watershed covering in parts of seven states. This center is staffed around the clock, 365 days a year with one primary goal in mind: to keep us safe from a flood.

Our tour guide was Charles Chappell, pictured near the wall of computer monitors. We want to thank the TVA for their cooperation in this information presentation, we all enjoyed it and learned about the measures that the TVA uses to protect us. The TVA mission is to; control floods, support water navigation, provide energy, water quality, economic development and water recreation. All this at no taxpayer expense, it derives all its revenues from the sale of electricity!
